Since we made the last change to the support status, we’ve been anticipating end of support for both FreeBSD 15.0 and macOS 14 (Sonoma) operating systems. They will no longer receive any security updates after September 30th and October 1st, respectively. We have done no changes to the support status, except removing obsolete Terminaux 6.x and 7.x versions from the support status.
Our support timelines are stationary, and describe how long we can support our projects running on an operating system, as well as updates made to our projects themselves. As Terminaux 6.x and 7.x ended their support on August 5th, 2026, changes to the support timeline were imminent. Here’s the summary of the changes that we’ll do, effective October 1st, 2026:
- FreeBSD 15.0 will no longer be supported as of September 30th, 2026.
- macOS 14 (Sonoma) will no longer be supported as of October 1st, 2026.
- Nitrocid 0.2.1 will be supported until August 5th, 2027.
As we’re anticipating the end of official support for FreeBSD 15.0, which was released on December 2025, all packages and system components will no longer receive any more updates, and people who are still using FreeBSD 15.0 after the end of support date can still use the system, but should plan upgrades to later supported versions of FreeBSD to continue receiving further security updates. As a result, we will no longer be able to assist users who continue to use our projects on systems running FreeBSD 15.0.
Similarly, macOS 14 (Sonoma) will no longer get any more official updates to fix security issues, alongside other improvements. People who continue to use our projects on macOS 14 will no longer be able to continue receiving official support from us, according to the support policy. Users who are still on macOS 14 will need to consider upgrading their systems in order to continue receiving official updates.
As we are working on finalizing Nitrocid 0.2.1, with a release candidate being scheduled for October 8th, we’ve prepared the final support deadline for Nitrocid 0.2.1, and it will be published soon in the next documentation update.
